Orlando isn’t only roller coasters. Step outside the attractions corridor and you’ll find brick streets, lakeside parks, local food scenes and small towns full of Old Florida charm.
Winter Park
Stroll tree-lined Park Avenue for boutiques and cafés, take the famous Scenic Boat Tour through a chain of lakes and canals, and see the Tiffany chapel and stained glass at the Morse Museum of American Art.
Downtown Orlando and Lake Eola
Lake Eola Park, with its iconic fountain and swan boats, is the heart of downtown. Weekends bring a farmers market, and nearby streets are packed with restaurants, bars and live music.
Mills 50
Just north of downtown, this colorful district is Orlando’s go-to for Vietnamese and other Asian cuisine, plus murals and indie shops.
Mount Dora
About 40 minutes northwest, a hilly lakeside town with antique shops, festivals and a small-town downtown that feels a world away from the parks.
Celebration
A planned town built by Disney with a walkable lakeside downtown — charming, especially during its holiday events.
Kissimmee
South of Orlando, with a lakefront park on Lake Toho, airboat rides into the headwaters of the Everglades, and roots in Florida’s cattle-ranching history.
Catch a Game or a Show
Downtown Orlando’s Kia Center hosts the Orlando Magic and major concerts, and Inter&Co Stadium is home to Orlando City SC and the Orlando Pride. The Dr. Phillips Center brings Broadway and performing arts.
